Dear Neighbors,

I have attached the monthly highlights for your reading. This is just a snap shot of the hard work your police officers are doing. There have been numerous efforts to address speeding and careless driving in the residential areas, panhandling at area businesses and street corners, curb the jaywalking issues, and more. The number of littering citations, noise enforcement citations, and graffiti referrals were up significantly over the past month or two. Officers have been doing parking enforcement of illegal parking in handicap spaces, issuing over 45 handicap parking violations and 246 other parking citations.

On June 28th, we partnered with members of the community and went door-to-door. From Copper to Indian School and Chelwood to Tramway, Officers and Citizens rang doorbells to pass out information on Neighborhood Watches, how not to be a victim, crime prevention, crime reporting and more. We are looking to get more community involvement. We need the assistance of our neighbors to fight crime.

This past weekend we had a rash of auto burglaries in the area of Candelaria/Juan Tabo. Twelve auto burglaries were reported between Saturday night and Sunday morning in this area. Reports were taken and detectives processed scenes for evidence. We will be following up on these case, but we could use some eyewitness tips. If anyone saw a suspicious car, person or knows anything about these auto burglaries, please contact me.

It is the eyes and ears of the neighborhood that caught the "Pillow Case Bandits". An alert neighbor called 911 and reported the initial burglary. That same neighbor called Det. Geoffrey Stone when he saw the offender vehicle again in the neighborhood. If not for him, our apprehension of these criminals and identification of the ring of criminals would have been delayed at the very best!

I would also like to thank those members of the community that have been bringing the positive accounts of police work to my attention. I want to know how my officers are doing, both the good and the not so good! We take our duty to the community serious and are constantly looking for feedback.

Please be safe and have a great day!
