E-Waste Recycling Info and Locations Empty E-Waste Recycling Info and Locations

Post  Admin Fri Dec 23, 2011 8:16 am

A new E-waste recycling program has opened at the East Mountain Transfer station year round. Details are below and at http://www.bernco.gov/E-waste/

E-waste is defined as the outdated computers, cell phones, printers, microwaves and thousands of other electronic devices commonly used today. Sending an old computer to the landfill is undesirable because some of its components can be re-used and some parts are made with toxic chemicals such as mercury and must be disposed of in special ways. The global technological revolution is fueling a rapidly increasing e-waste disposal problem.

The East Mountain Transfer Station is now set-up to accept e-waste on a year-round basis. Residents will be charged $5.00 to dispose of TV e-waste.

For more information about all of the locations and what e-waste will be accepted, please visit www.bernco.gov/E-waste.
