Thanks to our governor and with support from our mayor and congressman Heinrich, the annual Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival made it on the official New Mexico State Calendar last year. The last full week in August is officially "Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival Week". It's time once again for the third annual ABQ LDF. With the continued and increasing contributions from our supporters, this year's events promise to deliver the best ever festival experience yet! ABQ LDF 2012 is August 23-26th.
ABQ LDF is partnered again this year with the City of Albuquerque Cultural Services for two nights in Old Town and along with the National Hispanic Cultural Center for three days and two nights downtown on campus at NHCC. Special thanks to the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber and Duke City Fueling for their staunch support and key contributions for three years running.
ABQ LDF delivers many free and open events to the public like open air concerts, workshops, films & lectures. We are very proud of our free Friday night salsa dance concert on the plaza co-sponsored by the city's Cultural Services Department. We have been presenting this show/event for the past two years and the city is even more dedicated to the cause this year by ramping up staging, lighting and even more dance floor all around the plaza gazebo. This event is replete with multiple dance performances, social dancing from 5-10 p.m. and then moves to Hotel Albuquerque for a DJ'd ballroom after party until 2 a.m!
ABQ LDF has given away this amazing night of music and dance for the past two years (2010 & 2011) as a show of good will to our community and as a way of showing -off the joys and heritage of Latin music and dance to the citizens here in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County areas. It has been well received. The past two years the city estimates four thousand of attendees have taken part in the festivities during that night of our festival.
