FREE - Vehicle Identification Number Window Etching Offer

Post  Admin on Fri Sep 14, 2012 6:43 am

Dear Foothills Neighbors and Apartment Communities,

Please share this information with your memberships, residents, family, friends and community-at-large.

VIN etching is a vehicle theft prevention measure that is offered by the Albuquerque Police Department. Vehicles are often stolen and taken to “chop shops” and dismantled for re-sale of the vehicle parts. If the VIN is etched on the vehicle windows it serves as a deterrent because those parts cannot be re-sold. VIN etching makes a criminal more likely to move on to an easier target.

APD VIN Etching Events for the remainder of 2012 are listed below. VIN etching is another way to “harden your target” and APD VIN etchings are free of charge. Bring your vehicle registration with you to the event. The department is working on a future date for an event at Cottonwood Mall; I will let you know when that is confirmed.

VIN Etchings for 2012:
Saturday, September 8 at Kirtland Air Force Base (NOT open to the general public)
Saturday, September 29 at Home Depot, 200 Eubank (Children’s Safety Fair)
Saturday, October 13 at UNM Hospital (NOT open to the general public)
Saturday, November 17 at AAA New Mexico, 10501 Montgomery NE
All times are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Please stay safe and remember to add multiple layers of protection to your targets!

Jill Garcia, Crime Prevention Specialist
Foothills Area Command, APD
