Foothills Area Command Crime Prevention: August 8, 2014
Items stolen from vehicles since Friday, August 1:
Insurance papers, registration papers, vehicle battery, stereos, GPS systems, eyeglasses, calculator, chargers, iPod, camera, laptop, knives, flashlight, and an extensive collection of tools.
How were vehicles broken into? By breaking windows, prying open doors and the majority of auto burglary victims in the Foothills this week left their vehicles unlocked.
Harden your target by locking up and removing all items of value, including items with personal information and garage door openers.
Residential Burglaries:
This week burglars took advantage of unlocked windows, doors, and doggie doors to break into homes. Forced entries were through sliding glass doors and French doors at the back of homes. Unoccupied homes continue to be targeted. Keep extra eyes on vacant homes in your area and report suspicious activity to 242-COPS (2677).
Key Custody: Ex-girlfriends and estranged relatives with keys to homes were named as suspects y victims in three cases in the Foothills this week. Keep up to date on who has a key to your home.
Neighborhood Watch: National Night Out
The Foothills Area Command had 27 registered NNO events this year! Thanks to everyone who opened their homes, back yards, and set up in local parks and churches. It was tremendous to see balloons, signs and people gathered together• having a good time on National Night Out. Call Crime Prevention Manager Steve Sink at 924-3600 to get a Neighborhood Watch Starter Kit to get a group established on your block.
Foothills Substation Lobby Fliers:
This month the focus is on "Back to School." Fliers with safety tips for children are in our lobby for the community.
"Scams, Cons, Fraud and Identity Theft" Workshop: FULL
The August 28th workshop is full. Thank you the support.
Foothills Web Site: We will be 'live' soon - I'll keep you posted. Once we go live, you can access the web site for these crime prevention notices.
