Subject: FW: A Message from the Bernalillo County Office of Environmental Health -- West Nile Virus Still Present in Bernalillo County

Good afternoon neighborhood leaders,

As seen on a recent KOAT news report, the West Nile Virus continues to show its presence in Bernalillo County. West Nile Virus is most active toward the end of the mosquito season after it has had time to amplify in the bird and mosquito population.

The best way to avoid the virus is to avoid mosquitoes.

• Wear insect repellant if you are outdoors at dawn or dusk, when mosquitoes are most active
• Eliminate stagnant water near your home.
• Report stagnant water that may be breeding mosquitoes by calling 311.

More information is available here at the Bernalillo County Office of Environmental Health web site.

Again, 311 is the best number to call to report mosquitoes or stagnant water. For more information about West Nile Virus see the website link provided or call Bernalillo County Environmental Health at 314-0310.

Also, information from the New Mexico Department of Health can be accessed here.
