Residential Burglary Arrest
The following just received from APD
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Dear Neighbors,
It's a new year and I hope that everyone is doing well! I am sending this e-mail to let you know that another burglar was apprehended in the act of burglarizing a home in our neighborhood. The hero of this incident was (again) an alert neighbor. It occurred in the area of Loyola Av & Sierra Grande Av NE.
This alert neighbor saw a suspicious character and kept an eye on him, realizing he didn't belong in the neighborhood. Her vigilance paid off for us all. She called 911 upon seeing this criminal throw a rock through the glass on the front door of her neighbor's home. Officers arrived quickly and caught the criminal leaving the residence carrying a Mac computer box. He was arrested without incident. This homeowner will have the comfort of knowing the offender was caught red-handed (he had cut his hand on the glass) and all the stolen property was returned!
The Burglary Unit was called in to investigate. While I was standing there proudly watching my Officers and Detectives working a neighbor drove by and stopped. I spoke to this gentlemen about what was happening on his street. I learned that he had been the victim of residential burglary this past Saturday. The offender in his burglary also used a rock to break a window. I think we have some clues to tie cases together.
I send you this information as another example of why the Neighborhood Watch is so important. It helps us catch these criminals in the act! It gives police officers more eyes and ears in the community. Jill Garcia, Crime Prevention Specialist for the Foothills Area Command, would love to aid you and your neighbors in setting up a Neighborhood Watch Program!
